DevOps Engineer

Summary

Join Blend, an award-winning consultancy focused on delivering exceptional results for Fortune 500/1000 clients, as a DevOps Engineer. You will play a crucial role in transitioning machine learning MVPs and POCs from development environments to robust standalone API services in production. Collaborate with the data science team to ensure efficient and reliable deployment processes, optimize systems, enhance observability, and maintain critical cloud and Kubernetes environments. This position offers a unique blend of technical challenges aimed at improving system reliability and scalability within a dynamic environment. You can work 100% remotely if you are currently living in LATAM or join the team at the office in Montevideo, Uruguay.

Requirements

• 5+ years of hands-on experience as an individual contributor
• Strong expertise in infrastructure-as-code and cloud platforms—ideally Terraform and AWS
• Deep understanding of CI/CD practices and tools for deploying APIs, data pipelines, and ML models
• Advanced proficiency in Docker and container orchestration for building scalable services
• Solid experience with Python packaging, dependency management, and testing frameworks (e.g., pytest)
• Strong SQL skills and experience with orchestrating scheduled data workflows
• You will need excellent written and verbal English for clear and effective communication with the team
• We're looking for someone with 5+ years' of experience in similar roles

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to operationalize machine learning models by turning prototypes into reliable, production-ready API services
• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable infrastructure using infrastructure-as-code tools and cloud services
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines to streamline deployments for APIs, data pipelines, and ML workloads
• Containerize services using Docker following best practices for portability and performance
• Support robust testing and packaging of Python applications to ensure quality and stability in production
• Work with data teams to schedule and maintain SQL-based data jobs that feed into downstream systems
• Contribute to innovation and experimentation efforts, including generative AI and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) initiatives

Preferred Qualifications

Familiarity with GenAI technologies and experience with RAG is a plus
