DFM Project Engineer

Summary

Join Xometry, a company connecting innovators with manufacturers, as a DFM Project Engineer – 3D Printing. You will evaluate the manufacturability of customer designs and recommend solutions using Xometry's 3D printing technologies. Responsibilities include developing sourcing strategies, troubleshooting production, interfacing with various stakeholders, and working on special projects to expand manufacturing capabilities. The ideal candidate possesses a Bachelor of Science degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience in 3D printing within an engineering and manufacturing environment. Experience with 3D printing software (Materialise Magics, Rhino) is necessary. The position offers remote work flexibility and is based on the Indian Time holiday calendar.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Manufacturing Engineering, technical or related field preferred
• 5+ years in engineering and manufacturing environment in 3D printing, preferably at a multi-technology 3D printing shop
• Knowledge will include optimum 3D printing technology and material selections, printing cycle times, material limitations and costs and geometry limitations
• Experience working with suppliers, OEM equipment providers, and customers
• Experience with 3D printing software is necessary (Materialise Magics, Rhino - Rhinoceros 3D)
• Ability to identify design for manufacturing (DFM) issues based on 3D models and drawings
• Ability to work with customers on the fly and solve problems quickly
• Exceptional communication skills
• Able to work with Partners in troubleshooting production issues and answering partner questions
• Able to work well in a fast-paced start-up environment
• English B2-C1

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement the applicable sourcing strategy
• Aid production in troubleshooting order execution to ensure customer success
• Interface directly with 3D printing shops, internal staff members and management, as well as customers
• Take on special projects related to expanding the capabilities of our manufacturing partner network, working with OEM equipment makers, and our internal team of experts to improve our core competencies

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of GD&T and inspection/QA practices of the USA is a plus
• Experience with general 3D CAD modeling software is a plus (SolidWorks preferred)
• Prior experience in Design for manufacturing 3D Printed components is a plus
• Injection Molding experience is a plus
• Familiarity with different types of post-processing and finishes for printed parts
• Material selection knowledge is a plus
