Summary
Join our team as a Director of Accounting & Tax, reporting directly to the Group CFO. This crucial role encompasses all group-wide accounting and tax matters, requiring strong leadership and strategic thinking. You will lead and develop the accounting and tax teams, develop and scale the accounting & tax function, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. The position demands extensive experience in accounting and tax, ideally within a venture capital or private equity setting. Requirements
- Have a Bachelorβs degree (or higher) in Economics or a related field from a top university
- Have a minimum of 5 years of senior leadership experience in accounting & tax, ideally in a venture capital or private equity environment
- Have experience in a top audit firm and leadership experience in a fast-paced scale-up environment
- Be fluent in German and English
Responsibilities
- Report to and spare with the Group CFO; lead, mentor, and develop the accounting and tax teams
- Develop the strategy for and scale the accounting & tax function
- Drive team engagement and scalability through target and KPI settings
- Oversee general and sub-ledger accounting, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation (P&L, balance sheets, cash flows) in line with applicable accounting standards
- Optimize closing cycles through continuous improvement and automation of accounting processes
- Support DD processes and implement accounting consequences of corporate actions, including impairment tests and purchase price allocations
- Ensure compliance with group accounting policies across our entities
- Oversee audits (incl. ESG) and ensure adherence to accounting and tax regulations
- Implement, maintain, and optimize internal control systems and checks
- Maintain group-wide tax compliance, ensuring timely filings (direct/indirect tax)
- Oversee fund transfer pricing, intercompany agreements, and tax audits
- Manage external tax consultants and support international tax compliance
Preferred Qualifications
- Be a certified tax advisor and/or auditor
- Have experience with the introduction of ERP systems
- Excel at connecting stakeholders, storytelling, presentation, and negotiation
- Possess high business acumen and tech-savviness, with experience advising C-level executives and boards
