Summary
Join KIPP Foundation as the Director of Formal Learning for Leadership Development and play a critical role in executing the KIPP Network’s annual Academic Program Strategy. Design and deliver high-impact professional learning experiences for KIPP’s Executive Directors, Chief Schools & Academic Officers, and Principal Managers. Lead the planning and delivery of multi-day in-person and virtual professional development for KIPP Foundation staff. Collaborate with KIPP Foundation teams and regional partners to codify exemplary leadership practices and develop best-in-class adult learning content. Ensure participants improve in their proficiency level for prioritized skills and experience improved outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in adult learning, a proven track record of results, and a deep commitment to educational equity and student impact. This is a full-time, exempt role with 20% travel.

- Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design frameworks; capability to develop, implement, and evaluate comprehensive professional development programs that address varying learning styles and organizational needs
- Well versed in coaching with an equity lens, responding to and initiating conversations about diversity, equity, belonging; skilled in supporting professionals in navigating power dynamics, disproportionalities, oppressive policies and in disrupting white supremacy culture in our organization
- Highly skilled and experienced in leading the Internalization and Planning process, conducting Observation/Feedback meeting, providing real-time feedback, leading Weekly Data Meetings, setting academic goals and monitoring progress
- Has the interpersonal, diplomatic, relationship building, and communications skills necessary to develop successful working relationships with diverse constituents to deliver results; evolves and adapts plans and approach with diverse stakeholders to drive results; excellent communication skills with an aptitude for translating complex information into a clear and persuasive narrative; convinces others by identifying benefits for all
- Able to build and align goals and project plans with organization priorities; leverages relevant organizational processes and systems to execute work; can build and maintain knowledge management systems; effectively develops and codifies cross-team processes relevant to their team’s work that improve work quality and efficiency; uses data to drive process improvements in support of organizational priorities
- 7+ years of work experience with creating and delivering formal learning systems in an organization with national reach
- 3+ years of work experience as a principal manager or senior district leader role
- Experience working in virtual environments with teammates across multiple time zones
Responsibilities
- Lead the annual planning and execution of a world-class network leadership development arc of learning and content scope and sequence that exemplifies excellence in design, delivery, and outcomes
- Develop highly engaging agendas, session content, and facilitation plans that reflect best-in-class adult learning and inspire leaders to translate learning into meaningful action
- Set, model, and uphold a rigorous bar for excellence in all aspects of session content and adult learning design to ensure transformative learning experiences
- Leverage data and stakeholder feedback to continuously elevate the quality, impact, and relevance of professional learning experiences
- Design content that meets the unique learning needs of KIPP Principal Managers, Executive Directors, and other key leaders, tightly aligned to regional priorities and implementation goals
- Serve as a key collaborator with program leads across Teaching & Learning, Office of the President, Talent, and Regions to align leadership development strategy
- Design, facilitate, and continuously improve multi-day in-person and virtual professional development experiences for KF staff that are grounded in adult learning best practices, aligned to KIPP’s Leadership Competency Model, and responsive to staff needs
- Co-lead the design of the Manager Development Learning Series with the Director of Talent Systems to ensure all KF staff receive consistent, high-quality development from their managers
- Collaborate with the Director of Talent Enablement to design and align the scope and sequence and arc of learning for leadership development at KIPP Foundation with the broader talent development life cycle and calendar
- Ensure strong systems for follow-up and application of learning to drive sustained impact from all professional development programming
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience coaching principal managers highly preferred
- Familiarity with virtual learning platforms highly preferred
