Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Masterโ€™s degree or CPA preferred)
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
  • At least 3 years of experience managing a financial function using Netsuite
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal control procedures
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with senior management and external partners

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the bookkeeping and finance functions of the organization, including managing a team of in-house and outsourced bookkeeping, A/R, and A/P staff
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
  • Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process
  • Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
  • Ensure proper maintenance of the accounting functions in Netsuite, Squishable's ERP system
  • Ensure compliance with sales and use tax reporting across multiple jurisdictions
  • Advise senior leadership on financial performance and strategies for improvement
  • Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard the organizationโ€™s assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax laws and financial reporting standards
  • Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and resolve any audit issues
  • Oversee cash flow management, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs
  • Develop strategies to manage working capital efficiently and optimize financial performance
  • Lead, manage, and mentor accounting staff to ensure efficient operations and accurate reporting
  • Promote continuous professional development and improve team performance
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with financial goals
  • Lead or participate in special financial projects as required, including mergers, acquisitions, and system upgrades

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with multi-store brick-and-mortar retail and B2B/wholesale trade strongly preferred
  • Strong analytical skills for detailed account reconciliations
  • Comfort with ambiguity and creative problem-solving
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
