Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Masterโs degree or CPA preferred)
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in accounting or financial management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- At least 3 years of experience managing a financial function using Netsuite
- Strong knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal control procedures
- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with senior management and external partners
Responsibilities
- Oversee the bookkeeping and finance functions of the organization, including managing a team of in-house and outsourced bookkeeping, A/R, and A/P staff
- Oversee the preparation and accuracy of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
- Manage the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process
- Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS)
- Ensure proper maintenance of the accounting functions in Netsuite, Squishable's ERP system
- Ensure compliance with sales and use tax reporting across multiple jurisdictions
- Advise senior leadership on financial performance and strategies for improvement
- Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard the organizationโs assets and ensure accurate financial reporting
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including tax laws and financial reporting standards
- Coordinate with external auditors for annual audits and resolve any audit issues
- Oversee cash flow management, ensuring sufficient liquidity for operational needs
- Develop strategies to manage working capital efficiently and optimize financial performance
- Lead, manage, and mentor accounting staff to ensure efficient operations and accurate reporting
- Promote continuous professional development and improve team performance
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure alignment with financial goals
- Lead or participate in special financial projects as required, including mergers, acquisitions, and system upgrades
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience with multi-store brick-and-mortar retail and B2B/wholesale trade strongly preferred
- Strong analytical skills for detailed account reconciliations
- Comfort with ambiguity and creative problem-solving
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
