Director of Institutional Giving

Summary

The Director of Institutional Giving at PPSENFL is responsible for securing funding from local, regional, and national sources to support the organization's strategic initiatives. This role involves managing the affiliate-wide grants program, writing grant proposals, and ensuring compliance with grant restrictions. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferably with a Master’s degree, and at least 3-5 years of experience in grant writing for a non-profit organization.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. Master’s degree preferred
• Minimum of 3-5 years of direct experience in grant writing and development for a non-profit organization, with a successful track record
• Experience with successfully securing government grants preferred
• Excellent writing skills, including the ability to write persuasive proposals; strong editing skills, including a comfort with helping program staff communicate their work to donors in a clear and concise manner
• Strong administrative and organizational skills, with the ability to multitask, set goals, and prioritize workload. Comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment
• Effective, collegial communicator who can collaborate with all levels of staff. Unflappable under pressure
• Knowledge of financial processes, including budgeting
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work independently, and as a team member
• Professional integrity, drive and ability to effectively represent and promote PPSENFL to external partners with professionalism and tact. Commitment to producing exceptional work products
• Prior experience with donor database/CRM software is required (Salesforce strongly preferred), as well as a high degree of proficiency with MS Office especially Word and Excel
• Willingness to travel occasionally across affiliate territory

Responsibilities

• Manage a full range of activities required to prepare, write, and submit grant proposals and reports
• Gather information from program staff to articulate project goals, activities, anticipated outcomes, successes, challenges, etc
• Write/edit letters of intent and grant proposals for submission
• Keep program staff aware of upcoming deadlines and work in collaboration with them to write/edit reports on existing grants
• Keep Finance staff aware of upcoming deadlines and work in collaboration with the Grants Administrator to ensure expenses are appropriately allocated and grant revenue is released from restriction
• Monitor grant restrictions and ensure fulfillment of proposal/reporting guidelines
• Proactively identify and approach potential institutional funders to establish new funding partnerships and strengthen PPSENFL’s relationships in the institutional funding community
• Oversee maintenance of current records in database, including tracking/reporting submissions and other ongoing donor communications/cultivation efforts
• Support internal Development team writing needs as needed

• Yearly compensation range: Starting at $80,000 per year
• Eligible for all applicable benefits effective the first of the month following 60 days from your hire date
• Paid Time Off, accrues immediately but can't be taken until after 90 full days of employment : 3 weeks of paid time off, 10 recognized Holidays in addition to PTO, 1 personal day, and birthday
