Remote Director of Product Design

Summary

Tekmetric is seeking a forward-thinking Director of Product Design with at least 10 years of product design experience and 5 years in a leadership role. The candidate will lead the user experience design of multiple mid-to-large sized programs, inspire the team to develop high-quality designs, influence the product roadmap, provide continuous coaching, create design guidelines, and partner with leaders across disciplines.

Requirements

• A minimum of 10+ years of experience in product design
• 5 years in a leadership role
• Proven ability to set design vision which aligns with business goals and available resources
• Experience anticipating bandwidth needs and planning work - and advocating for resources as needed with leadership
• Experience establishing processes to ensure that good design practices are being followed in every development project
• Strong portfolio showcasing expertise in UI/UX design, user-centered design solutions, creative strategy, mature design systems, and user research methodologies
• Proven capability in leading design projects from inception to completion
• Proficiency in design and research tools such as Figma, JIRA, User Testing, Storybook, Material Design language among others
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic startup/scale-up environment

Responsibilities

• Lead a design team to manage the user experience design of multiple mid-to-large sized programs
• Inspire the team to develop high-quality product designs and user experience while facilitating a culture of iteration, customer feedback and design critique
• Influence the product roadmap and champion user-centered design culture
• Provide continuous coaching and feedback to the team, with an emphasis on developing senior individual contributors and enhancing their leadership skills
• Create and drive adoption of design guidelines and systems, as well as manage internal processes and tools
• Partner with leaders across disciplines (marketing, product, engineering, etc) to define the strategic direction and design resourcing needs
