Summary

Join our Technology Vertical as Director of Product Security Engineering in NZ (Remote) to significantly impact our customers' experiences daily. You will lead the newly formed Product Security Engineering (PSE) team, integrating security into development processes. Responsibilities include leading change management, managing the PSE team, driving DevSecOps integration, collaborating with stakeholders, championing secure development, and continuously enhancing security practices. The role requires a strong DevSecOps background, experience in building secure development practices, budget management skills, and deep knowledge of cloud security. Successful candidates will also possess relevant certifications and familiarity with industry regulations. Requirements

  • Strong background in DevSecOps, with practical experience integrating security into CI/CD processes
  • Proven ability to shape and implement strategies for building secure development practices across a global organisation
  • Demonstrated experience managing budgets for security programmes and optimising resource allocation to achieve business goals
  • Deep knowledge of cloud security architecture, container security, and modern development frameworks (e.g., Kubernetes, Docker, AWS, Azure)
  • Hands-on experience with threat modelling and integrating security into large-scale agile/DevOps environments
  • Recognised certifications such as CISSP, CSSLP, or cloud-specific certifications like AWS Certified Security Specialist
  • Familiarity with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, PCI DSS, HIPAA) and the ability to ensure compliance in product development processes
  • Proven ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and develop innovative solutions to complex problems
  • Experienced developers or QA security engineers transitioning into a security role will also be considered

Responsibilities

  • Lead change management initiatives to embed security as a cultural norm within development teams and across Xplor
  • Inspire and manage a team of Product Security Engineers, driving professional growth and impact
  • Drive cross-functional collaboration across development, infrastructure, and operational teams, ensuring security is embedded in workflows, systems, and organisational culture
  • Empower our development teams to build secure applications from the ground up and integrate security into every phase of the software development lifecycle
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and influence senior leaders, including C-suite stakeholders, to prioritise security in product development strategies
  • Champion secure design principles and make critical decisions that directly influence the secure delivery of products, balancing security priorities with business needs to mitigate long-term risks
  • Drive the development of organisational security policies, adoption of cutting-edge tools and methodologies to mitigate risks while influencing corporate strategies
  • Conduct risk assessment and prioritise security investments based on organisational impact and critical business needs
