Director of UI/UX Design

Summary

Join our team as Director of Design to lead and scale our design organization. You will oversee user experience, visual design, and design operations, ensuring exceptional, user-centered products. As a key member of the leadership team, you'll shape design strategy, mentor designers, and collaborate with product, engineering, marketing, and executive stakeholders. This role requires a strong design vision, leadership skills, and experience in building high-performing design teams. You will ensure user research, prototyping, and usability testing are integral to the design process. You will also implement efficient processes and tools to improve team performance and advocate for design thinking across the organization. Finally, you will contribute to company-level strategic initiatives and influence product roadmaps.

Requirements

• 8+ years of professional experience in digital design, with at least 3 years in a leadership role
• Proven success leading design teams in fast-paced, product-centric environments
• Deep expertise in UX/UI principles, user research, visual design, and interaction design
• Strong portfolio showcasing user-focused design and measurable business impact
• Excellent communication, leadership, and storytelling skills
• Experience working in agile product teams and partnering with product and engineering
• Passion for coaching, feedback, and developing design talent

Responsibilities

• Define and champion a design vision and strategy aligned with company goals
• Inspire excellence and innovation across all touchpoints—product, brand, and customer experience
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing, multidisciplinary design team (UX, UI, Research, Content, etc.)
• Foster a culture of collaboration, creativity, inclusion, and accountability
• Ensure the team is deeply engaged in user research, prototyping, and usability testing
• Promote best practices and consistency through a unified design system and scalable workflows
• Work closely with product managers, engineers, marketing, and executives to bring user needs and business goals together in elegant and effective solutions
• Implement processes and tools that improve team efficiency, quality, and cross-team alignment
• Advocate for design thinking across the organization
• Contribute to company-level strategic initiatives, influence product roadmaps, and ensure design is a key voice in decision-making at all levels

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience scaling a design team from early-stage to growth or enterprise scale
• Background in SaaS, healthcare, fintech, or enterprise software
• Familiarity with design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, and usability testing platforms
• Experience building or maintaining a design system
