Requirements

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Professional Engineer designation required
  • Minimum 5-10 years of experience in electrical design for large-scale industrial facilities
  • Proven experience in EPC projects, preferably in energy, power utilities, or large industrial plants
  • Experience working with electric utilities, including interconnection and regulatory processes
  • Proficiency in power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools, PowerFactory)
  • Strong knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NFPA, NEC)
  • Expertise in high-voltage equipment and systems, including transformers, switchgear, and protective relays
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience with renewable energy projects and sustainable energy systems
  • Knowledge of construction safety standards (OSHA or equivalent)

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive electrical load lists based on process and mechanical equipment requirements
  • Prepare detailed electrical drawings, including single-line diagrams, wiring schematics, and panel layouts
  • Specify electrical components, including switchgear, transformers, generators, and motor control centers (MCCs)
  • Design and implement power distribution networks, including low, medium, and high-voltage systems
  • Lead the design of substations and high-voltage switchyards, ensuring proper selection of transformers, breakers, and protective relays
  • Coordinate interconnection with the local utility, including negotiating grid connection agreements
  • Develop grounding and bonding strategies to ensure safety and compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IEEE 80, NEC)
  • Perform harmonic analysis and design appropriate filtering solutions to mitigate harmonic distortion in the power network
  • Act as the primary liaison with electric utility companies to manage interconnection processes and ensure grid compatibility
  • Ensure designs comply with local, national, and international electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC, NFPA, NEC)
  • Collaborate with EPC teams to oversee the engineering, procurement, and construction phases of the project
  • Review vendor and contractor submittals for electrical equipment and systems to ensure compliance with project specifications
  • Provide technical support during construction, commissioning, and startup phases
  • Conduct power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and transient stability analyses
  • Use power analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM PowerTools, PowerFactory) to model and validate electrical designs
  • Establish quality control procedures to ensure all electrical installations meet project specifications and standards
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to electrical design, construction, and operations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masterโ€™s degree is preferred
  • Familiarity with SCADA systems and industrial automation
