Emergency Management Associate Consultant, Financial Analyst

• 1-3 years knowledge of recovery and/or response programs including FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) public assistance
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
• Must be 18 years of age or older
• Must pass company and any applicable client background check and reference check upon offer of employment
• Eligibility to work in the United States is required

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze financial documentation, including invoices, contracts, and cost estimates, to ensure compliance with FEMA Public Assistance (PA) guidelines
• Organize and maintain financial data, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for reporting and audit purposes
• Assist in preparing financial reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for grant submissions and reimbursements
• Track and monitor project expenditures, cost eligibility, and funding allocations in alignment with FEMA PA regulations
• Support data entry and financial documentation management in tracking systems, databases, or spreadsheets
• Collaborate with project managers and financial analysts to resolve discrepancies and provide accurate financial data for decision-making
• Conduct quality control reviews to verify the completeness and accuracy of financial records
• Assist in responding to audits, information requests, and compliance reviews from FEMA or other oversight entities
• Stay informed on FEMA PA policies, regulations, and financial management best practices to ensure adherence to federal grant requirements
• Support process improvement initiatives to enhance financial tracking, documentation organization, and grant management efficiency
• Support operation functions within a single primary focus area of emergency management, which includes administrative tasks as assigned. Assist with producing client deliverables while developing knowledge of the principals of emergency management framework. Engage in opportunities with mentors and senior level consultants to learn and build capabilities
• Provide support to project tasks while building baseline knowledge of client relations. Shadow other more senior level consultants and participate on client engagements as needed, while meeting personnel allocation and utilization targets
• Attend and participate in all individual and group assigned and scheduled meetings and events. Respond and engage in other company communications as appropriate. Shadow others and participate in client engagement opportunities as requested
• Gain basic knowledge of emergency management consulting fundamentals and the company business model. Become familiar with the industry, how the company defines success, and develop an "elevator pitch". Share with leadership any information or leads for business opportunities discovered
• Attend and participate in all assigned job-related training opportunities
• Seek guidance from leadership on task priorities according to business and client needs
• Develop currency of and compliance with applicable state and federal policies, procedures, and guidance documents. Gain experience, train for, and become knowledgeable in at least one area of Emergency Management. Develop/pursue ongoing knowledge, credentials, and career development opportunities
• During a disaster, you may be called into the field to support relief efforts, assist with organizing responses, and support advanced roles in emergency situations and/or activations
• Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in business management, emergency management, Finance, or Accounting
• 3+ or more years' experience working in emergency management consulting and/or business management, finance, or accounting
• At least one year of experience with validation of eligible costs for FEMA Public Assistance reimbursement including Category A Debris Removal projects
• Business development experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, particularly Excel
