Engineering Manager

Summary

Join Cloudflare's Media Platform team as an Engineering Manager and lead a team building innovative media products. You will guide a team of engineers in developing cutting-edge image and video solutions, focusing on improving developer experience and accelerating product launches. This role requires experience leading and managing engineering teams, a strong foundation in computer science, and expertise in building scalable distributed systems. You'll be responsible for planning, execution, and hitting ambitious engineering goals, while fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment. Requirements

• Experience leading a team
• Comfortable managing backend and frontend teams
• Solid foundation in computer science and software engineering with strong competencies in software design, and building distributed systems
• Excel at planning, creating teams and overseeing execution to meet commitments and deliver with predictability
• Demonstrate a track record of managing a team including hiring, on-boarding, and professional development. You inspire your team to reach higher. You’re as good as explaining “why” as you are “how”
• Experience implementing tools, process, internal instrumentation, methodologies and resolving blockages
• Comfortable managing teams/projects with tight deadlines and short release cycles

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of passionate, talented engineers building innovative products for the next generation of media products, such as images and video
• Ship products that reduce developer agony and help developers bring their ideas to market faster
• Play an active part in shaping the product and team that will build core infrastructure
• Make sure our company hits our ambitious engineering goals
• Change the way people build applications
• Meet business needs with building technically innovative solutions, and excel at shifting between the two—understanding how big-picture goals inform technical details, and vice-versa

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with media handling at scale – images and video
• Experience working in low-latency real time environments such as game streaming, game engine architecture, high frequency trading, payment systems
• Expertise in data analysis and troubleshooting large-scale distributed systems
• Managing contributions to open-source projects
