Summary
Join Extend as an Engineering Manager and play a critical leadership role in shaping how we build. You will lead two product development teams, ensuring high-quality software delivery. This role requires balancing mentorship with execution, planning with adaptability, and velocity with predictability. You will collaborate closely with Product, Design, and other stakeholders. The position is open to U.S.-based candidates and can be performed remotely, with quarterly travel to NYC. Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent training, fellowship, or work experience
- Proven management track record of working with interdisciplinary product teams (web, mobile, design) in a position of either an Engineering Manager or Tech/Team Lead
- Prior experience managing a fullstack team including mobile, web, and backend engineers
- Excellent communication skills and ability to form relationships across the business
- Experience running and mentoring cross-functional teams
- Empathetic and outcome-oriented leader who leads with clarity, not control
- Capable of driving outcomes as well as output
Responsibilities
- Hire, develop, and retain top engineering talent
- Provide feedback, mentorship, training and career development opportunities that help Engineers grow at Extend and beyond
- Foster a culture of ownership, inclusion, and high performance
- Collaborate with Product Management, Design, and other teams to define and deliver on product and technical roadmaps
- Drive the level of project visibility, clarity and predictability we need to run our business
- Plan, design, communicate, and implement reliable, scalable, and extensible software systems
- Establish a collaborative work environment that fosters autonomy, transparency, a high degree of craftsmanship, and personal growth
- Evangelize software development best practices and set exceptional standards for the team
- Lead technical discussions and plans to improve the company’s overall software quality
