Engineering Manager

Summary

Join Platform Science as an Engineering Manager to lead the Fleet Management Portal experience team in San Diego, CA (or remote). You will oversee a cross-functional team, manage the technical execution of the product roadmap, and directly supervise software development. The role requires 3+ years managing full-stack or mobile engineering teams and 5+ years as a full-stack or mobile software engineer. Experience with various technologies (Node, PHP, JavaScript, etc.) and databases (MySQL, Postgres) is essential. The estimated base salary is between $125,900 and $180,000. Requirements

• 3+ years managing full stack and/or mobile engineering teams
• 5+ years of experience as a full stack or mobile software engineer
• Experience creating and/or improving development processes while reducing developer toil, and improving adherence to those processes
• Experience working with: Node, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and/or Java, Kotlin
• Experience with MySQL and/or Postgres
• API Design and Integration experience (REST or GQL)
• Database design experience, with understanding of various ORMs such as Eloquent
• A solid portfolio of experience building web services/APIs for mobile or other server side applications
• Good technical foundation with ability to pick up new skills and adapt quickly
• Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to build trust while acting as a servant leader
• A commitment to software craftsmanship and best practices in unit testing, code review, design patterns, etc
• Experience building strong relationships with Product leaders and other stakeholders to ensure your team has clear vision
• The ability to review code, coach, and mentor engineers on your team
• Experience supporting and contributing to the recruiting and hiring of awesome engineers
• Proven success in on-boarding and training new engineers
• A passion for building, developing, and coaching high-performing engineering teams
• A relentless bulldozer to any roadblocks preventing your team from achieving its goals

Responsibilities

• Manage the technical execution of the Portal Experience team’s product roadmap
• Directly supervise a cross-functional software development team
• Lead the team in incident response
• Help monitor & support existing legacy applications
• Create & maintain documentation of key technical systems
• Represent technical initiatives to the business and customers
