Engineering Manager - New Platform

Summary

Join Scalable Capital, a leading European digital investment platform, as an Engineering Manager to lead an engineering team in building a new, fully integrated investment platform. You will empower and manage a team of engineers, providing technical expertise and best practices. Responsibilities include building and integrating new features, organizing and prioritizing business goals, and participating in the recruitment process. The ideal candidate possesses a relevant university degree, backend development experience (Java, Kotlin), and a profound understanding of software development processes. Leadership experience and a financial services background are preferred.

Requirements

• A university degree in a relevant field of study (e.g. computer science, engineering, sciences, ...) or a comparable qualification
• Previous experience as a backend developer (Java, Kotlin), preferably for cloud infrastructures / event-based asynchronous architectures
• Profound understanding of software development process, loosely-coupled distributed architectures and RESTful API Design
• Passion for other people’s development and technical excellence
• Extreme sense of ownership
• Strong analytical thinking, both in the technical and in the product domain
• Excellent communication skills that are clear, concise, and targeted towards your audience - engineering, product, or other stakeholders

Responsibilities

• Build our new fully vertically integrated investment platform to serve our customers using cutting edge technology and modern software development practices
• Empower and manage a team of engineers, helping them shape their individual careers and grow the team to become self-organized, agile and autonomous
• Provide technical expertise and share best practices with your team
• Build & integrate new features by working with our Product and Design Teams
• Organize, prioritize and achieve business goals with your team and Product
• Be part of the recruitment process to attract your potential new colleagues or team members

Preferred Qualifications

• Leadership experience is a plus
• Background in financial services is a strong plus
