Engineering Manager, Ruby on Rails

Requirements

• Advanced/fluent English skills – Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Flexibility to work across US time zones (East Coast to West Coast, 3-4 hour difference)
• Hands-on experience with Ruby on Rails in a production environment
• Previous leadership experience as a Lead Engineer, Team Lead, or Engineering Manager, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment
• Strong technical problem-solving skills and ability to make sound decisions under tight deadlines
• Proven experience with Agile methodologies and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Trello)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for mentoring and guiding engineers

Responsibilities

• Lead Development: Act as a hands-on Engineering Manager, working alongside the team in coding, reviewing, and providing technical guidance on Ruby on Rails and React projects
• Mentorship & Team Development: Build and nurture a high-performing team, conducting regular check-ins, coaching, and creating development plans for team growth
• Technical Strategy : Collaborate with Product and Engineering leadership to define the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap
• Agile Workflow: Ensure efficient sprint planning, sprint retrospectives, and effective task management
• Quality Assurance: Set and maintain high standards for code quality, testing, and software development best practices
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Design, and other departments to align technical solutions with business goals

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD, and cloud environments (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Experience with React or other JavaScript frameworks (a plus)
• Previous experience scaling applications in high-growth or large-scale environments
