Engineering Manager, Video Editor

Summary

Join Canva's Video Editor team as a Lead Engineer and coach a team of 5-6 engineers focused on playback and video editing features. You will help deliver scalable and robust product features, collaborate with stakeholders on the product roadmap, and drive the planning and refinement of cycle goals. This role requires experience in technical leadership, frontend development (JavaScript, React, TypeScript, etc.), and strong computer science fundamentals. Requirements

• Previous experience in technical people leadership or mentorship of engineers
• Commercial experience in a software development environment, with a focus on frontend technologies and associated libraries and frameworks
• Firmly grounded computer science and engineering fundamentals including concurrency, multithreading, data structures, solution design, architecture, and design patterns
• Previous experience in working collaboratively with team members and communicating effectively
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to break large projects down into smaller ones and deliver on them through others
• Good writing and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Lead and coach a team of 5 to 6 engineers focused on playback and video editing features
• Help the team deliver scalable and robust product features for Canva users around the world
• Work closely with the stakeholders to understand and contribute to the product roadmap
• Drive the planning and refinement of cycle goals, ensuring there is alignment between the company, group, and teams
• Foster a culture of collaboration and advocate for the engineering needs of non-technical collaborators within the group
• Own and drive the delivery of large, cross-team, and cross-group initiatives and projects from ideation to completion, with autonomy and independence of decision making
