Requirements
- Bachelorโs degree in systems architecture, computer science, or a related field; masterโs degree preferred
- Minimum of 12 yearsโ experience in system architecture or a related field, with a proven track record in leading large-scale projects
- Profound knowledge of various system architectures, applications, methodologies, and tools
- Expertise in cloud platforms (e.g., AWS) and their architectural best practices
- Familiarity with container and orchestration technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Strong grasp of data storage solutions, both relational and non-relational
- Exceptional problem-solving skills and the ability to conceptualize complex system designs
- Outstanding communication skills with the ability to articulate architectural decisions and concepts to diverse audiences
- Adept at stakeholder management, with a collaborative and consultative approach
Responsibilities
- Be part of a team that is supporting the Security and Exchange Commissionโs (SEC) Chief Data Office on the Data Management program
- Ensure the systems are scalable, robust, and future proof, while providing strategic direction and oversight in architectural decisions
- Develop and maintain the overall system architecture, ensuring alignment with the program's objectives and scalability requirements
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including data scientists, systems engineers, and data managers, to gather system requirements and provide architectural solutions
- Create architectural blueprints and documentation, ensuring they are easily understood by both technical and non-technical audiences
- Lead the evaluation and integration of new technologies, tools, and methodologies to ensure continuous improvement and system robustness
- Offer mentorship and guidance to the technical team, fostering best practices in system design and implementation
- Ensure system compliance with security standards and protocols, especially regarding sensitive data
- Lead troubleshooting efforts, especially for complex architectural issues
- Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and architectural best practices
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience supporting the SEC
- Experience with Data Observability processes and Data Mesh architectures
