Summary
Join our innovative, fast-growing company as an Estimating Engineer and contribute to the Estimating Department, supporting the Sales Division. You will prepare proposals and conduct in-depth engineering and design analysis. Key responsibilities include providing technical quotations for LV and MV switchgear, analyzing project costs, identifying cost uncertainties, and updating costs based on new information. You will also interface with various departments, review and produce RFQ proposals, provide quotes for buyout items, and share pertinent information with the sales team. This position requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and at least 3 years of relevant experience.
Requirements
- Bachelorโs Degree in Engineering and a minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing electrical power distribution equipment
- Experience in reading single line diagrams and specifications
- Excellent computer, communication, and organizational skills are a must
Responsibilities
- Provide technical quotations of the companyโs Low Voltage (LV) and Medium Voltage (MV) switchgear through the analysis of costs for engineering projects based on an analysis of project technical requirements
- Collect and analyze all project costs, including raw materials, labor, equipment and tooling to ensure estimates are accurate
- Identify and quantify potential cost uncertainties to ensure costing models capture the full range of potential costs
- Updates costs as necessary based on new information and project scope changes
- Interface with project management, engineering, and procurement departments
- Review and produce a proposal for request for quotes (RFQs), which includes reviewing and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and pertinent bid forms
- Provide quotes for buyout items from our vendor partners as directed by sales
- Review and summarize RFQ documents to share pertinent information with the Sales team
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of LV/MV switchgear and previous manufacturing experience is preferred
- Experience with complex proposals/quotations in manufacturing environment is preferred
- Experience with paralleling controls and/or PLC/HMI controls are a preferred
Benefits
Travel will be required during on-boarding and training period. This period will last 3-6 months and require up to 25% travel during that time
