Requirements
- Relevant academic qualifications and experience in the field of higher education in one of the following subjects: Business
- Media
- Computing
- Experience in a similar role or involvement with external examination processes in UK HE
- Strong understanding of academic standards, assessment procedures, and quality assurance
- Analytical and evaluative skills to assess the quality and effectiveness of programme elements and student performance
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for providing constructive feedback
- Ability to work independently and remotely while meeting deadlines and fulfilling responsibilities
- Strong ethical standards and a commitment to fairness, objectivity, and confidentiality
Responsibilities
- Ensuring that the academic standards for each programme and its elements are set and maintained at the appropriate level, and that student performance is accurately judged in accordance with relevant external benchmarks
- Confirming that assessment processes effectively measure student achievement against the intended learning outcomes, and that these processes are fair and operated equitably
- Verifying that the programmes, and the achievements of their students, meet the appropriate standards to prepare them for their intended degrees
- Providing programme staff with expert, external, and independent feedback that can be used to assure academic standards and enhance the quality of the programmes
- Provide feedback to programme teams on the design of assignments, examination papers, and marking schemes. This will take place at the start of the academic year
- Review a sample of assessed work, which may also include remote meetings with staff and/or students as required
- Attend, at a minimum remotely, the final Programme Assessment Board(s) (PAB) to provide advice and endorse the collective decisions of the Board
- Submit a report, in the prescribed format, at the end of each cycle, which will be shared with staff and students
