Financial Controller

Summary

Join Okendo as their first in-house finance hire and take ownership of financial operations, laying the groundwork for scalable financial management. You will collaborate with company leadership and external accounting providers, building systems and models for budgeting, forecasting, and investor reporting. This role requires strong SaaS finance experience, a hands-on approach, and a desire to shape the future of the finance function. You will oversee day-to-day finance operations, lead the development of financial models, build and manage budgeting processes, and prepare financial reporting. The position also involves implementing internal controls, monitoring cash flow, collaborating cross-functionally, and supporting fundraising activities. Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in accounting and finance, with significant exposure to SaaS business models
• Proven track record of building or scaling a finance function at a high-growth startup
• Experience managing financial operations across multiple global entities (Australia and the U.S. required)
• CA or CPA qualified (or equivalent)
• Strong technical accounting knowledge (GAAP/IFRS) and experience managing external accounting providers
• Excellent financial modeling and forecasting skills
• Strong business acumen and communication skills—you can partner with leaders across departments and tell the story behind the numbers
• Comfortable working in a remote, fast-paced environment with high autonomy

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day finance operations across multiple entities (Australia and the U.S.) in partnership with outsourced providers
• Lead the development of company-wide financial models, including dynamic forecasting and multi-year planning
• Build and manage budgeting processes, including department-level planning and variance tracking
• Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and board-level financial reporting
• Implement scalable internal controls, policies, and systems to ensure compliance and financial hygiene
• Monitor and manage cash flow, intercompany transactions, and capital planning
• Collaborate cross-functionally to support hiring plans, vendor decisions, and budget alignment
• Support fundraising activities and investor reporting, including financial due diligence

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with tools like Xero, Rippling, Ramp, Airbase, or similar
• Familiarity with SaaS metrics and subscription revenue models
• Exposure to fundraising, M&A, or investor due diligence
