Frontend Engineer

Summary

Join Lyft as a Front-end Engineer and build internal tooling web applications, focusing on exceptional design and usability. You will lead projects from conception to launch, collaborating with various teams. Responsibilities include writing high-quality, well-tested code, participating in code reviews, and documenting system designs. This role requires over 5 years of software engineering experience with expertise in JavaScript, React, CSS, and HTML, along with proficiency in TypeScript, Python, and other technologies. Requirements

• Over 5 years of software engineering experience with advanced expertise in JavaScript, React, CSS, and HTML
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Strong understanding of browser behaviour and the DOM, focusing on web performance and asset optimization
• Proficient in TypeScript, Python, and CSS preprocessors like Sass
• Experienced with Node Package Manager (NPM), and modern frontend testing tools such as Jest, and React testing library including unit and end-to-end testing
• Solid knowledge of object-oriented programming, distributed systems, and both relational and NoSQL databases

Responsibilities

• Help establish roadmap and architecture for internal tooling
• Lead projects from idea to launch
• Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code
• Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and other collaborative team activities to maintain high-quality standards
• Write documents to communicate system design, launch, and share knowledge
• Collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with CI/CD and DevOps practices
• Experience working with design systems from inception to launch
