Summary
Join Blue Coding as a Full Stack Developer and work remotely from anywhere in the Americas! Build and maintain impactful digital products for a mission-driven environmental organization, focusing on software development using various technologies like Node.js, Python, React, and AWS. Collaborate with a cross-functional team, contribute to architecture decisions, and explore AI/LLM integration. This is a long-term, fully remote position offering a salary in USD and a flexible schedule within US time zones. The ideal candidate will have strong full-stack development experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for environmental sustainability.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience building backend APIs and services using Node.js (TypeScript), and Python (e.g., FastAPI or Flask)
- Experience with testing frameworks such as Jest or Pytest, implementing zod or pydantic schemas
- Strong hands-on experience building interactive web UIs using modern frameworks like React, Vue, or Svelte (with state management), HTML/CSS, and testing with Jest and Cypress or Playwright
- Experience with databases: SQL (SQL Server and SQLite) and NoSQL (Redis)
- Experience with cloud services like AWS (such as ECS, Lambda, Step functions, EMR, SQS, S3)
- Experience in building maintainable and reliable frontend and backend software in agile environments
- Experience with continuous integration and deployment
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Self-motivated learner with a willingness and ability to take on new challenges
- Interest in working for a mission-driven environmental organization
- Ability to work primarily during US EST or CST work hours
Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, and maintain full-stack applications and associated features for various digital products, including backend APIs and frontend interfaces
- Collaboratively design client-side and server-side software architecture for long-term performance, maintainability, security, and reliability
- Work closely with product managers, data scientists, designers, and researchers to iterate based on user feedback and evolving priorities
- Contribute to shared engineering practices, reusable components, and internal documentation such as their Design System across the Product Studio
- Engage in the exploration and prototyping of AI/LLM tools and services, integrating them into existing or new products where appropriate
- Write automated tests and technical documentation, and conduct code review with peers
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and fix software issues across the stack
- Support product launches, monitor system performance, and troubleshoot issues across environments
- Improve the user support and onboarding experience by addressing bugs, documenting workflows, and responding to support tickets
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelorโs degree in computer science or a related field
- Experience and desire to work with geospatial data systems and large-scale data analysis
- Experience integrating with LLMs (e.g., OpenAI, Hugging Face, Anthropic) and building prompt-driven or RAG applications
- Comfort with async programming patterns and real-time interfaces (e.g., WebSockets, SSE)
- Experience setting up logging, monitoring, and evaluation frameworks for LLM-based systems, including prompt/response logging, performance metrics, error tracking, and user feedback pipelines; familiarity with tools such as OpenTelemetry, Prometheus, Sentry, or custom dashboards, for prompt evaluations and model behavior tracking
- Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Weaviate, Pinecone)
- Familiarity with tools like LangChain, LlamaIndex, or custom LLM orchestration patterns
- Understanding of embedding pipelines, vector search, and similarity metrics
- Experience deploying and monitoring inference pipelines or AI microservices
- Experience working with or supporting machine learning pipelines or MLOps workflows
- Familiarity with design systems and scalable frontend architecture
- Prior involvement in AI/ML/LLM experimentation or tool integration
