General Counsel

Summary

Join CompanyCam as our General Counsel and provide expert legal guidance across various organizational functions, including contracts, compliance, litigation, and risk management. Reporting to the COO, you will ensure legal soundness and regulatory alignment of company operations. You will manage legal matters with external counsel and internal stakeholders, identifying and mitigating potential legal issues. This role involves close collaboration with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to protect CompanyCam's interests. The position requires a JD, bar admission, and relevant experience. Occasional travel is required, but remote work is largely possible.

Requirements

• Active Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school, along with ongoing professional legal development and continuing education
• Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction
• 3+ years of experience as an in-house corporate lawyer or as a corporate outside counsel
• 2+ years of experience developing and negotiating customer and vendor contracts
• Ability to travel to the office or meeting locations as necessary (1x/quarter on average)

Responsibilities

• Provide legal counsel to all departments as needed, including Sales, Finance, and Operations, advising on compliance, regulatory matters, contracts, disputes, and intellectual property
• Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including vendor agreements, mid-market customer contracts, NDAs, and licensing agreements, ensuring compliance with laws and corporate policies
• Build and establish a contract review submission process and establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for managing the queue
• Identify and assess potential legal risks and develop strategies to minimize them
• Provide proactive legal guidance to help avoid litigation and disputes
• Stay up to date with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards, ensuring CompanyCam practices comply with all legal requirements
• Establish a regular cadence of internal compliance reviews and audits alongside outside counsel and the Chief Operating Officer
• Assist with managing and overseeing litigation, including working with external counsel, developing case strategies, and representing the company in legal matters
• Contribute to the development, implementation, and updating of internal policies, ensuring they align with current laws and regulations
• Liaise with external counsel for specialized legal matters and effectively manage the relationship and expectations
• Partner with HR Operations for matters regarding employment law, providing insight where expertise allows

Preferred Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience as in-house counsel experience in a B2B SaaS company
• 2+ years of experience working within the realm of employment law
• Experience evaluating and assessing risks in regard to scenarios such as business insurance and business renewal alongside relevant stakeholders
• Ability to effectively prioritize and delegate; capable of managing multiple competing priorities and delegating tasks when appropriate

Benefits

• Salary range: $130,000 - $140,000 per year, based on experience
