Summary

Join DataDome as their General Counsel, reporting directly to the COO. You will lead the legal team, manage external counsel, and shape the company's legal landscape. Key responsibilities include strategic leadership, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance, technology implementation, risk mitigation, and IP management. This role requires significant experience in legal roles, particularly within SaaS, cybersecurity, or tech-driven industries, and expertise in various legal areas. Requirements

  • JD or equivalent legal qualification
  • Admission to the Bar in at least one US jurisdiction
  • 10+ years of experience in legal roles

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the ExCo and department leaders to define and implement company-wide legal and compliance policies
  • Provide legal insights to support strategic business decisions, ensuring alignment with global regulatory requirements
  • Lead negotiations for customer and prospect contracts, safeguarding the company’s interests and ensuring adherence to internal policies
  • Structure, draft and negotiate a wide range of agreements, including SaaS agreements, data processing agreements and technology partnerships
  • Create and develop templates and processes to streamline contractual workflows
  • Manage and mentor a team of legal professionals, fostering growth and ensuring excellence in legal service delivery
  • Coordinate with external legal counsels and advisors to ensure quality, cost-effective legal support across multiple jurisdictions
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, including GDPR, CCPA, export controls, PCI-DSS, AI acts, and other relevant cybersecurity and data protection regulations
  • Monitor and address emerging legal trends that could impact the company’s operations in all the jurisdictions the company operates, especially in the United States, in France, the European Union and in Singapore
  • Select and implement a legal software tool to enhance legal operations at scale, focusing on contract management, compliance tracking, document automation, and risk assessment
  • Leverage technology to streamline workflows, improve collaboration, and ensure data security in legal processes
  • Proactively identify potential legal risks and provide practical solutions to mitigate them
  • Manage litigation and disputes to protect the company’s reputation and resources
  • Oversee and manage intellectual property and patent portfolios and provide strategies to protect the company’s technological innovations and advise on copyright, trademark, trade secret and patent matters in the context of software and technology transactions
  • Collaborate with R&D teams to ensure compliance with IP laws and safeguard proprietary technologies

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience from SaaS, cybersecurity, or tech-driven industries
  • Proven track record of managing cross-border legal teams and working with international law firms
  • Expertise in contract negotiation, corporate law, privacy, IP management, and employment law
  • Familiarity with GDPR, CCPA, and other global data protection regulations
  • Experience selecting and deploying legal technology solutions to optimize legal operations
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a pragmatic approach to balancing legal risk with business priorities
