GIS Innovation Specialist

Summary

The job description is for a GIS Innovation Specialist at the USGS who will support the Dynamic Mapping Team by utilizing expertise in Esri ArcGIS Pro, GDAL, and ArcGIS Server to develop complex GIS processes. The specialist will create and maintain technical documentation and be part of an Agile team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in related field +7 years’ experience
• Exhibit advanced skills in using Esri ArcGIS Pro and GDAL for precise geospatial solutions
• Demonstrated expertise in technical writing and documentation (PDF, 508 Compliance)
• Display expertise with Esri ArcGIS Software, including ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Server, for managing GIS projects
• Showcase knowledge of geospatial standards and metadata (FGDC, ISO) for consistent data management
• Demonstrate effective use of geospatial data formats and products (File Geodatabase, GeoPackage, Geospatial PDF, GeoTIFF) for data integration and analysis

Responsibilities

• Support the Dynamic Mapping Team at the United States Geological Survey (USGS)
• Develop and understand complex GIS processes
• Create and maintain technical documentation supporting these processes
