Summary

Join Western Digital's Spacing Control & Integration Group as a Mechanical Integration Test Engineer. You will develop and perform mechanical integration tests, analyze data, and present results. This role requires strong laboratory skills and experience with various testing equipment. Familiarity with metrology is preferred. Requirements

  • BS and 3+ years, experimental lab work experience including setup and running test apparatus, i.e., AFM, Raman, LDV, Oscilloscope etc
  • Experience of characterization of contact, vibration and wear phenomena, i.e., Head and Disk Interface (HDI) field preferred
  • Experience of Spin-stand tester (Tribo-Tester preferred)
  • Strong team-player who can collaborate with colleagues
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications

Responsibilities

  • Develop various Mechanical Integration (MI) test methodologies to support new technologies
  • Perform MI reliability tests & study Magnetic performance for new Thermal Mechanical (TM) design and new Back-End Process
  • Verify if new designs meet company performance budget, but also satisfy HDD Reliability requirements
  • Support all products and issues that have Head Disk Interface related matters
  • Conduct experiments, acquire and analyze data and summarize results to present
