Join Aplos, Raisely, and Keela, a unified company dedicated to helping nonprofits thrive, as their Data Engineering Manager. You will own the data and analytics strategy, building a robust data pipeline and ensuring data quality across three SaaS platforms. The role involves leading a team, defining data governance, and presenting insights to executive leadership. You'll establish a single source of truth for key metrics, improve data freshness, and empower users with self-service tools. Success will be measured by data accuracy, user adoption, and cost efficiency. This is a remote-first position with generous benefits.
Requirements
- 8+ years in analytics and data engineering, with at least 3 leading teams
- Hands‑on expertise with Google BigQuery, Python, and a modeling layer such as dbt
- Experience standing up or refining BI governance and permission frameworks
- Strong communicator who can translate SQL results into plain language for Product, CS, Finance, and Marketing leaders
- Track record building revenue, retention, or usage metrics for a subscription software business
- Warehouse: BigQuery
- Ingestion: Python (Cloud Functions)
- Modeling: dbt (rolling out)
- Orchestration: Cloud Scheduler, moving to Cloud Composer
- BI: Metabase Cloud
Responsibilities
- Publish a 12‑month data roadmap that aligns with company OKRs
- Deliver a duplicate‑free revenue model for Finance (fact_movement_clean)
- Define and implement row-level security and role-based access in BigQuery and Metabase
- Launch a live metrics glossary in Notion
- Replace remaining R and Stitch jobs with Python pipelines
- Stand up dbt for tested, documented data models
- Ship Marketing ROI dashboards that replace funnel.io
- Host Metabase training so 80 percent of routine questions are self‑serve
- Fully migrate orchestration to Cloud Composer (or Airflow)
- All three BigQuery instances consolidated into a single BigQuery database with a unified semantic layer serving Metabase
- North‑Star metric suite (Time to Value, Continued Value) live for every product
- Stakeholder NPS on data availability and accuracy ≥ 50
- Prepare hiring plan for 2026 expansion
- Own the data and analytics strategy, budget, and risk register
- Lead, coach, and hire a high‑performing team (Analyst, Analytics Engineer, Data Architect, plus future roles)
- Drive cross‑department alignment on metric definitions and data quality
- Present insights, trends, and data posture to executive leadership and the board
- Maintain strong governance on privacy, security, and cost
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Metabase or similar semantic‑layer BI tools
- Stripe payment data modeling experience
- Background in nonprofit or fundraising technology
- Knowledge of Google Cloud Composer, Airflow, or other orchestration tools
