Summary

Join Mindoula as the Vice President of Data Architecture, Engineering, and Management and play a pivotal role in shaping the company's data platform strategy. This 100% remote position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in data architecture, engineering, management, and governance within a complex organization. A bachelor's or master's degree in a related field is required, with an advanced degree preferred. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of data architecture principles and significant hands-on experience with modern data platforms, particularly AWS.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, engineering, information technology, or a related field
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in data architecture, engineering, management, and governance in a complex organization
  • In-depth knowledge of data architecture, data modeling, data integration, and data governance principles
  • Significant hands-on experience with modern data platforms (AWS), including real-time streaming, data lakes, and data lake house architectures
  • Track record of delivering enterprise-grade data pipelines with technologies like Spark, dbt, Airflow/Dagster, or equivalent
  • Strong understanding of data privacy regulations and HIPAA/HITRUST compliance requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders
  • Proven leadership abilities, capable of motivating and inspiring a small, agile data engineering/architecture team to achieve strategic goals
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and innovation

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the data architecture & engineering roadmap; partner with peers in product, engineering, data science, AI, and BI to deliver a unified, integrated technology strategy & roadmap to Mindoula members, partners, and business stakeholders
  • Design and maintain robust, scalable data pipelines to support ingestion, integration, and transformation of healthcare data from a variety of internal and external sources
  • Complete the transition to a modern data stack (e.g., AWS-based lake house) and ensure best practices in data orchestration (e.g., dbt, Dagster, Airflow) for reliable, high-quality data delivery
  • Identify, build business cases, and implement additional, appropriate data technologies and tools to support data-driven initiatives
  • Implement data management best practices, including data cleansing, data enrichment, and data lifecycle management
  • Implement enterprise data governance tools and frameworks to drive consistent business definitions, data lineage, and data quality monitoring at scale
  • Collaborate with the information security and legal teams to establish data privacy and security protocols, achieving / maintaining HiTrust certification and ensuring compliance with HIPAA and other relevant data protection regulations and healthcare standards
  • Cultivate and lead a high-performing data architecture, engineering, and management team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous learning
  • Serve as player/coach, contributing directly while providing hands-on guidance and mentorship to team members
  • Work directly with cross-functional teams (clinical operations, product, analytics/data science) to translate business needs into scalable data solutions
  • Collaborate with all members of executive leadership, department heads, and cross-functional teams to align data platform initiatives with business goals and objectives
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • An advanced degree is preferred
  • Familiarity with healthcare data, behavioral health data, or electronic health records (EHRs) is highly desirable
