Summary
Join HappyCo and become our experienced Head of Data! Lead the development and execution of our data strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals. Set the technical direction for data initiatives, overseeing architecture, warehousing, analytics, and reporting. Collaborate across departments to understand data needs, developing and maintaining scalable data infrastructure. Implement best practices for ETL/ELT pipelines and data governance. Provide leadership and mentorship to the data team, fostering growth and innovation. This role requires significant experience in data engineering, warehousing, or enterprise reporting, along with strong technical and communication skills.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of proven experience delivering and executing on a strategic vision in data engineering, data warehousing, or enterprise reporting
- Experience with BI and data warehouse tools, databases and data modeling, (relational, document SQL or NoSQL)
- Excellence in data modeling techniques and strategies
- Programming and scripting skills (python, bash preferred)
- Experience managing and mentoring junior data engineers and/or analysts
- Identifies and addresses improvements and efficiencies
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain technology solutions in business terms, establish rapport and persuade others
- Broad knowledge of current and emerging technologies, technology directions, and strategic application to business needs
Responsibilities
- Define and drive the data strategy to support the companyβs overall goals and product roadmap
- Set technical and product direction for data-related initiatives including data architecture, warehousing, analytics, and reporting
- Collaborate with stakeholders across company departments to understand data and insight needs
- Develop and maintain scalable data architecture and infrastructure that meets current and future needs for storage, reporting, security
- Implement best practices for secure and scalable ETL/ELT pipelines and data governance
- Provide mentorship and leadership for data team members, fostering an environment of growth and individual development
- Monitor and effectively manage utilization and cost of data products, cloud services, and third-party tooling
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP
