Summary

The job is for a Head of Engineering (Platform) at Zyte, a globally distributed data extraction company. The role involves leading engineering teams for marketing tech stack, self-service eCommerce purchasing, billing & fintech portfolio, stats & usage APIs, and central app.zyte.com and ScrapyCloud platforms. The leader will drive the tech vision for Zyte's UI/UX experiences for discovering data and self-service B2B buying, and define the direction for core jobs orchestration, workflow, and sequencing tech along with associated HubStorage platform.

Requirements

• Deep expertise building and maintaining complex commercial products
• 10+ years of relevant product engineering experience or equivalent
• Be a recognised technical & product leader
• Have a highly collaborative working style
• Deep understanding of modern UI/UX tech stacks (including headless CMS) and B2B eCommerce tech stacks
• Expert in distributed / Cloud systems and high-performance environments
• Demonstrable expertise and experience in driving innovation with deep technical vision
• Deep knowledge of metered data products
• Strong working knowledge of the state-of-the-art in engineering, data management, security, cloud products
• An excellent communicator with proven influencing and negotiating skills
• Ability to articulate complex concepts in ways that can be understood by a variety of audiences
• Ability to establish credibility and build relationships at all levels
• Be extremely customer-focused and passionate about operational excellence
• Natural ability to work independently and without boundaries
• The ability for critical thinking outside your immediate sphere of responsibility

Responsibilities

• Lead the technical vision, strategy, and design for all these product areas
• Take responsibility for the technical direction, priorities, and overall quality of the tech stacks in this area
• Manage all staff / teams by recruiting, training and coaching employees, communicating job expectations and appraising their performance
• Collaborate with all relevant stakeholders to influence the product roadmap
• Lead the creation and execution of the technical roadmap aligned to the business goals / product vision
• Foster a Team-of-Teams culture
• Maintain and drive a portfolio of Research & Innovation projects including the embedding of GenAI / LLM capabilities across our platform
• Take responsibility for support, maintenance and operations including incident response
• Represent difficult trade-off decisions and solutions clearly to senior leaders to help them understand decisions and available options
• Leverage your technical knowledge to drive technical trade-off decisions across your teams and other teams in the wider organisation
• Collaborate, dive deep, and go hands-on with our engineering teams during architecture & design, build, and launch phases
• Be a key partner for our Product, Commercial, and other Business teams
• Identify opportunities for process optimization and automation across the Platform
