Head of Product

Summary

Join mod.io as Head of Product and lead the product strategy and roadmap, driving the delivery of industry-leading features. You will champion the product vision, aligning it with customer needs and company objectives. This critical leadership role involves overseeing the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to launch and iteration. You will lead and mentor a high-performing product team, fostering a collaborative environment. Deep understanding of game developers and the modding community is crucial, requiring market research and user interviews. Success in this role means mod.io becomes the leading UGC service, demanded by players, creators, studios, and publishers.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in product management or design, ideally with at least 3+ years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Head of Product, VP Product, Director of Product, Head of Design, Design Director, Game Director) in a tech company, developer tools, or platform-as-a-service (PaaS) or within a videogame development studio
• Proven track record of defining and launching successful products/games that have achieved significant market adoption and business impact
• Understanding of user-generated content (UGC), modding ecosystems, and the broader gaming industry
• Experience with API-first products and developer platforms is highly desirable
• Exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead, inspire, and develop product teams
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts to diverse audiences
• Strong business acumen and a solid understanding of revenue models (e.g., SaaS, transaction-based)
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic scale-up environment

Responsibilities

• Define and champion the overall product vision, strategy, and roadmap for mod.io, ensuring alignment with company objectives and market trends
• Work closely with our CEO and Founder to translate his vision into outcomes in our products future roadmap
• Oversee the end-to-end product lifecycle, from ideation and research to development, launch, and post-launch iteration
• Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products and features
• Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing product team, including Product Managers, and UX Researchers/Designers
• Foster a collaborative and empowering environment, working cross functionally in a complex product environment
• Deeply understand the needs of game developers and the modding community
• Work closely with our Communications and Community team to conduct market research, competitive analysis, and user interviews to identify opportunities and pain points
• Work closely with Engineering, Business Development, Marketing, and other teams to ensure seamless product development and go-to-market strategies
• Utilize data and analytics to inform product decisions, measure success, and identify areas for improvement
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and track product performance
• Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving user behaviors to identify new product opportunities and ensure mod.io remains at the forefront of UGC
• Effectively communicate product strategy, progress, and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders, including the development team, customer studios and verified creators

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with games industry platforms (e.g., Unity, Unreal Engine)
• A passion for video games and an understanding of modding culture
• Experience working with globally distributed teams
• Experience having made a mod or supported a game with official mod support
