Head of Web Engineering

You will guide distributed agile teams, shape the technology stack, and ensure scalable, efficient, and future-ready platforms. This pivotal role balances hands-on technical leadership with cross-functional collaboration and long-term vision. You will cultivate a high-performing engineering culture, lead the adoption of modern engineering practices, and drive a culture of test automation. Furthermore, you will lead the shift towards aligned technologies and practices, collaborate with various teams, improve platform observability, and ensure engineering practices meet security and compliance standards.

Requirements

• Have proven experience leading engineering teams in complex, fast-moving environments
• Have a strong technical background in scalable systems and modern development practices
• Have experience with test automation, operational reliability (high availability, 24/7, worldwide presence), and deployment models (continuous, blue/green)
• Have a passion for technology and people

Responsibilities

• Help grow the right skills and strengths, keeping a sharp focus on delivering great results, and always learning and improving together
• Lead the adoption and refinement of modern engineering practices, ensuring quality across all stages of delivery—design, development, automated testing, CI/CD, tooling, and deployment
• Drive a culture of test automation—unit, integration, and load testing—to support high-quality, scalable delivery
• Lead the shift towards more aligned technologies and practices across squads. This includes managing change thoughtfully, addressing resistance, and ensuring teams evolve together rather than in silos
• Work closely with architects, product managers, designers, and engineering leads to build alignment and clarity
• Improve platform observability through better monitoring, alerting, and performance analysis
• Lead efforts to move toward zero-downtime deployments, support high-frequency releases, and ensure we operate with a clear understanding of platform limits
• Ensure that engineering practices meet security, legal, and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC2, etc.)
• Proactive risk identification and mitigation will be part of your mandate
