Summary

Uptalent.io is seeking a remote Industrial Designer with at least 3 years of experience in precision architectural metal fabrication to develop products for a New York-based company. The designer will collaborate with cross-functional teams, conduct research, create designs using CAD software, and stay updated on industry trends.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in industrial design with a focus on precision architectural metal fabrication
• Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or SolidWorks
• Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes related to architectural metal fabrication
• Experience in custom manufacture primarily in metal: interior and exterior doors, skylight enclosures, cladding, mirrors with metal accents, stairs, trim, etc
• Advanced knowledge of available hardware, screws, available material profiles, and fabrication methods
• Proficient in the development of fabrication drawings and shop drawings
• Understanding of engineering and rule-of-thumb conventions
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with keen attention to detail
• Fluent in English language and ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with cross-functional teams
• A portfolio showcasing your previous work in precision architectural metal fabrication

Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision architectural metal fabrication products
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget
• Conduct research on materials and manufacturing processes
• Create 2D drawings and 3D models using CAD software, mainly Solidworks
• Coordinate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure design specifications are met
• Participate in design reviews and make necessary adjustments
• Stay updated on industry trends and advancements in architectural metal fabrication
