Information Security Intern

Summary

The company is seeking a self-driven IT-savvy intern with a background in Computer Science or related fields to join their team as the first line of defense against cyber threats. The intern will be responsible for implementing, managing, and assessing security solutions, enforcing and consolidating security policies, and maintaining the IT risk register among other tasks.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing or recently graduated with a degree in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field
• Can commit to an internship period of around 6 months
• Proficiency with Cloud, Mac and Windows systems
• Outstanding analytical, quantitative and problem-solving abilities
• Self-driven, inquisitive & able to identify how you can contribute to the team
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication (presentation, written, and listening) skills

Responsibilities

• Maintain, track, and update the IT risk register and control procedures to address known security vulnerabilities
• Perform assessment of controls implemented and work with respective team to remediate any deviations
• Undertake new projects to improve security controls while maintaining efficiency of operations
• Assist in Internal audits, security gap assessments, reviews & compliance
• Monitor security tools and services for suspicious activity and alerts
• Perform periodic review of security policies to ensure relevance

Preferred Qualifications

Knowledge of programming or scripting languages is a plus
