Join Contentful as a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer and contribute to the design, building, and maintenance of highly scalable and secure cloud infrastructure. You will work with AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes, collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve observability and mitigate operational risks. This role requires 3+ years of experience in cloud infrastructure, strong AWS knowledge, and expertise in Terraform and Kubernetes. Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience building and operating cloud infrastructure in high-availability environments
  • Strong AWS knowledge across core services: VPC, ALB, EKS, EC2, S3, Lambda, Route53, RDS, ElastiCache, SNS/SQS, etc
  • Terraform expertise for infrastructure provisioning
  • Practical experience with Kubernetes (ideally EKS), including workload tuning, autoscaling, and troubleshooting under load
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Go preferred)
  • Understanding of networking concepts: routing, DNS, load balancing
  • Familiarity with CDN/Edge (e.g., Fastly) and how they interact with backend systems
  • Comfort debugging distributed systems issues across Edge, Network, Compute, and Storage layers
  • Experience with observability stacks (metrics, logs, tracing) and tools like Splunk and New Relic
  • Familiarity with SRE practices: SLO, SLA, etc
  • Excellent English communication skills, verbal and written
  • A collaborative mindset: you're helpful, respectful, and enjoy sharing knowledge
  • Ability to context switch, work through ambiguity, and contribute across multiple workstreams
  • Lead by example, mentor others, and embrace a culture of safe experimentation and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain highly available, secure, and scalable infrastructure serving billions of monthly requests
  • Work with AWS using Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code best practices
  • Deploy and optimize Kubernetes clusters and ensure workloads scale and recover gracefully
  • Collaborate across domains and teams to enable infrastructure improvements
  • Improve observability at scale
  • Help anticipate bottlenecks or failure points before they cause problems
  • Be involved in incident response and postmortems
