Summary

Join Fidelity & Guaranty Life Insurance Company (F&G) as the Manager, Investment COE and oversee the accounting for F&G’s Alternative Asset portfolio, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational efficiency. This role involves supervising a team of accounting professionals and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. You will manage and mentor a team, act as a liaison between team members and senior management, and support internal control objectives. The position requires a Bachelor’s degree, minimum 7 years of experience in investment accounting or finance, and prior team supervision experience. A CPA designation is preferred, along with insurance industry knowledge. F&G offers a flexible work environment with options for in-office, hybrid, and remote work arrangements.

Requirements

  • Possess a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting or finance
  • Have a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in investment accounting or finance
  • Have prior experience supervising or managing a team
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of statutory and GAAP accounting principles for investments
  • Show proficiency in equity method accounting and familiarity with statutory accounting guidance for residual equities
  • Exhibit proficiency in financial accounting systems, including Clearwater and Oracle, with advanced Excel skills
  • Possess excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail
  • Demonstrate effective leadership and team-building skills with the ability to motivate and hold team members accountable
  • Be highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the accounting for F&G’s Alternative Asset portfolio including, but not limited to: Preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations for month-end and quarter-end close processes
  • Ensure all investment transactions adhere to statutory and GAAP accounting standards
  • Manage and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering professional growth and ensuring high performance
  • Act as a liaison between team members and senior management, providing guidance and facilitating effective communication
  • Support and enhance internal control objectives by identifying risks, reviewing controls, and addressing compliance gaps
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including Tax, FP&A, and Investments to both plan for and/or explain results of complex transactions
  • Lead the team thru implementation of efficient processes for newly adopted residual accounting in compliance with statutory accounting standards
  • Work closely with third-party administrators, auditors, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance and timely resolution of inquiries
  • Lead or contribute to special projects as assigned, such as process improvement initiatives or implementing regulatory accounting guidance
  • Perform other functions, duties and projects as assigned
  • Maintain regular and punctual attendance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Possess a CPA designation or equivalent
  • Have industry experience and/or knowledge of the insurance industry (life, annuity, reinsurance)
