Summary

Join Box as a Splunk Administrator and manage and optimize our Splunk Cloud platform. You will configure and maintain Splunk Cloud, manage data ingestion, and enhance data quality. Responsibilities include managing indexes, applications, searches, and user permissions, while ensuring platform security and performing backups. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement efficient search and alert configurations, and contribute to the platform roadmap. This role requires a proactive approach to troubleshooting and system scaling. Your expertise will be vital to the success of our operational initiatives.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience of performing tasks in the Splunk Cloud
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or equivalent degree/experience in related field
  • Familiarity with server monitoring tools
  • Cloud computing experience (AWS preferred)
  • Ability to effectively document solution deployments and train colleagues
  • Experience with one or more programming languages relevant to scripting, automation, and interacting with APIs (Python, Bash, PowerShell, etc)
  • Working knowledge of essential security concepts
  • Strong ability to analyze and solve complex business problems
  • Strong ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally, including working with a geographically distributed team
  • Strong organizational, planning, and documentation skills
  • Excellent attention to detail

Responsibilities

  • Building, optimizing and maintaining a large-scale Splunk Cloud infrastructure - 20+TB daily ingestion
  • Administering Splunk and Splunk Apps to include developing new or extending existing Apps to perform specialized functionality
  • Designing and implementing solutions to address business problems understanding the Splunk architecture requirements for scalability, security, and performance
  • Managing Splunk Users accounts
  • Building and maintaining Splunk components
  • Integrating Splunk best practices (apps, add-ons, searches, etc.)
  • Creating, modifying and maintaining data retention policies
  • Responding to legal and compliance requests for data holds, as well as other Splunk problems and resolving them in a timely manner
  • Securing Splunk Cloud
  • Partnering closely with Corporate Security regarding Splunk usage and needs
