Requirements

• Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, or related field, plus 2 years of post-baccalaureate experience as a Database Administrator or a related position
• Experience must include: Oracle Database, PostgreSQL Database, AWS, and CI/CD Pipeline

Responsibilities

• Plan, design, install, and configure Oracle, PostgreSQL, and cloud-based databases (GCP, AWS) across production and lower environments, ensuring seamless integration with network systems
• Implement and maintain robust database architectures to support business-critical applications, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security
• Perform database upgrades and migrations, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations and seamless transition to newer versions or different platforms
• Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements, translating them into scalable and efficient technical architectures
• Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment between business needs and technical solutions
• Monitor process lag, analyze statistics, and identify network and disk bottlenecks, implement tuning measures to optimize replication performance
• Analyze and optimize SQL queries, utilizing tools such as EXPLAIN PLAN to identify and address performance bottlenecks, including full-table scans and high-cost operations
• Apply SQL hints and other optimization techniques to improve query performance, ensuring efficient use of resources and faster query execution times
• Design and manage ETL processes using Apache Airflow, Python, and other relevant tools to ensure accurate and timely data extraction, transformation, and loading into target systems
• Develop and maintain automation scripts using tools like Jenkins, Ansible, and Terraform to streamline database management, deployment, and configuration processes
• Implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices to ensure repeatable and consistent infrastructure provisioning and management
• Utilize BigQuery for data storage and analytics, designing and optimizing queries to ensure efficient data retrieval and processing
• Implement monitoring solutions to continuously track database performance, resource utilization, and availability, proactively addressing potential issues before they impact operations
• Perform regular maintenance tasks, including patching, backups, and security updates, to ensure database systems are up-to-date and secure
