Jr. Infrastructure Engineer

Summary

The job is for a Junior Infrastructure Engineer at Platform Science in San Diego, CA. The role involves designing and maintaining reliable systems at scale in the cloud, primarily on AWS and other cloud platforms. The employee will be expected to participate in a 24/7 on-call shift schedule for infrastructure support.

Requirements

• 1 year Operational knowledge of AWS, Azure or GCP cloud infrastructure
• 1 year using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Terragrunt, Atlantis)
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and containerization best practices (EKS, AKS)
• Experience with monitoring and observability of applications (Prometheus, Grafana, Alertmanager)
• Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal
• Knowledge of a scripting language (e.g. bash, Python)
• Strong desire to automate and create standard frameworks

Responsibilities

• Provide highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure
• Build foundational infrastructure for other teams to deploy and run their applications
• Look for ways to reduce toil through scripting and automation
• Solve technical problems in increasingly complex environments
• Help to define and improve our standards for maintainability and best practices
