Summary

The job is for a Programming Lecturer at HyperionDev, a tech education provider that offers accelerated tech courses and bootcamps. Requirements

  • Holding a degree or diploma in Computer Science
  • 12 months of teaching, tutoring/ mentoring experience or at least 12 months coding (industry) experience
  • Good communication skills - ability to deliver content in a clear manner, proven ability to run sync/live sessions with larger student groups (lectures, workshops)
  • A problem-solving and positive attitude
  • Functions well independently
  • Fast learner, meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to craft, collate and maintain student data for informing pedagogical processes
  • Start-up mentality and the desire to see the team succeed
  • An interest in education, particularly coding and tech education
  • Demonstrable knowledge of Full Stack Web Development including JavaScript, Git, React.js, Express.js, JWT, MongoDB, SQL, Unit, integration and snapshot testing, REST, Continuous integration, deployment and delivery
  • Ability to start work from 2 pm to 11 pm SAST (UTC+2) to accommodate part-time and international students. If lecturing to onsite students, expected to work from 9 am to 6 pm SAST (UTC+2)

Responsibilities

  • Support learners by guiding them on course content, delivering lectures and workshops, holding group lectures, and helping solve student queries
  • Assist with the development of lecture content, mini-lessons, presentations, and implementing new strategies for improving overall pedagogy and quality of lectures

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of teaching experience in Software Engineering
  • Experience designing and developing interactive learning experiences
  • Active involvement in local and international tech communities
  • Professional experience working with any one of the tech stacks listed under minimum requirements
  • Experience providing guidance on academic interventions to improve student progression
