Summary

Join Djamo, a company revolutionizing African banking, as a Site Reliability Engineer. Reporting to the Tech Lead, you will ensure the stability, scalability, and performance of our production systems. Daily responsibilities include monitoring infrastructure, responding to incidents, automating tasks, collaborating with developers, and contributing to documentation. This role requires a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, 1+ year of relevant experience, and solid SQL knowledge. Familiarity with Linux, cloud providers (AWS and GCP), monitoring tools, and scripting is also essential. The ideal candidate will possess a curious mindset and a strong willingness to learn.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 1+ year of experience in a DevOps, SRE, or infrastructure-related role
  • Solid knowledge of SQL
  • Familiarity with Linux systems and command-line tools
  • Basic experience with cloud providers AWS and GCP
  • Understanding of networking, monitoring, and system architecture fundamentals
  • Exposure to tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and any OpenTelemetry tool
  • Ability to write simple scripts in Bash, Python, or similar languages
  • A curious mindset and a strong willingness to learn and grow in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

  • Monitor the health and performance of Djamo’s infrastructure, applications, and services
  • Respond to incidents, participate in on-call rotations, and assist in root cause analysis
  • Automate routine operational tasks to improve system reliability and team efficiency
  • Collaborate with developers to ensure observability, scalability, and fault tolerance
  • Contribute to the documentation of runbooks, incident reports, and system configurations
  • Apply best practices in security, reliability, and system performance monitoring
  • Any other related tasks

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with version control systems (Git), CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of Kubernetes and Docker
  • Basic knowledge of incident response and postmortem culture
  • Exposure to financial systems, regulatory environments, or high-availability services
