Junior Web Developer

Summary

Join NPR, a leading multimedia organization, as a Digital Media Technology Intern for a 28-week program (October 6th, 2025 - April 17th, 2026). This remote-permitted internship, based in Washington, DC, offers hands-on experience in modern coding practices, Agile development, and working with NPR's digital products. You will contribute to feature development for NPR.org, support users, assist in quality assurance, and participate in Agile ceremonies. The ideal candidate is passionate about digital product development, possesses strong problem-solving skills, and excels in communication. Requirements

• Experience with at least one programming language and/or some exposure to web development
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Must be a current student in an accredited degree program or a recent graduate of no more than 12 months from the month of the start of the internship

Responsibilities

• Contribute to feature development for NPR.org
• Support NPR.org users through maintenance and production issue resolution
• Assist in quality assurance efforts, including testing and test plan creation
• Help scope and plan technical work, including new features, bug fixes, and urgent issues
• Participate in and help lead Agile ceremonies (stand-ups, sprint planning, retros, etc.)
• Offer constructive feedback on UI/UX designs

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with any of the technologies or frameworks we commonly use, including
• Front-end web development (especially using JavaScript, React, or Redux)
• Understanding of HTML5 and CSS3
• Back-end development experience or familiarity with PHP
• Working knowledge of MySQL or other databases
• Experience using Linux-based development environments
• Familiarity with Git or any version control system
