Requirements

  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field
  • 2+ years' experience writing items for statewide or national assessments
  • K-12 ELA teaching or tutoring experience
  • Outstanding written and spoken communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a wide range of age groups
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively solve problems
  • Can-do attitude with an openness to others' ideas and a strong attention to detail
  • Ability to quickly learn new guidelines and software

Responsibilities

  • Write and review clear, engaging assessment items to address specified educational objectives in grades K-12
  • Review and edit assessment items and collaborate with our team of writers, editors, and illustrators to ensure content is clear, accurate, and age-appropriate
  • Write achievement level descriptors and other assessment documentation
  • Collaborate with curriculum designers, psychometricians, program managers, and company leaders to determine assessment scope and approach
  • Develop and manage project plans to create and deliver high-quality assessment items
  • Research and analyze content requirements, including state educational standards
  • Assist with other ELA curriculum design projects as assigned, such as creating and reviewing standards alignments and writing and reviewing ELA content for IXL's learning activities

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with HTML, Jira, or version control software
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional design
