Lead Data Engineer, Remote - Japan

Summary

KOMOJU is seeking a Senior Data Engineer with a strong background in data engineering to work on developing and maintaining their data platform, interacting with internal teams to understand their data needs, and improving data utilization. Requirements

• Strong engineering background
• Proficiency in a programming language used in data engineering such as Python
• Experience and interest in data collection, ETL, analysis, and visualization
• Advanced understanding of SQL
• Knowledge of data warehousing technologies and experience with platforms such as Amazon Redshift or Google BigQuery
• Ability to deeply understand teams (Business, Engineering, and Operations) objectives and translate them into effective data engineering solutions

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the data platform (data collection, analysis, and visualization)
• Work with the development team to improve our data collection by connecting more data sources to the data platform
• Lead and build out the Data Engineering division
• Maintain and improve data integrity
• Interact with various internal teams to understand their data needs
• Build data dashboards to support each team’s decision making
• Improve data utilization by continuously monitoring data usage metrics
• Proactively conduct data analysis to provide teams with new insights to make better decisions

Preferred Qualifications

• Proficiency in a programming language used in data engineering such as Python
• Experience in developing and operating web services
• Experience with Looker/LookML
• Familiarity with cloud platforms AWS or GCP
• Experience with database design and performance tuning
