Lead Packaging Systems Engineer

Summary

Join Foth, a member-owned science and engineering consulting firm, as a Lead Packaging Systems Engineer. Based in California (work from home), you will lead projects improving and integrating packaging systems for clients, from concept to execution. Responsibilities include auditing, solution development, documentation, scoping, estimating, scheduling, design, installation, commissioning, and testing. You will present proposals, mentor engineers, and travel regularly. The position requires a BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, 10+ years of experience with food/beverage systems, and capital project execution experience. Requirements

• BS Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or equivalent technical experience
• 10+ years of experience with design and/or integration of food/beverage systems
• Capital project execution experience

Responsibilities

• Lead projects for improving existing packaging systems and integrating new packaging systems for our clients
• Be involved with all phases of the project execution cycle from concept through execution
• Lead efforts for Existing Packaging Systems: Auditing & data analysis, Solution development, Documentation updating/development and management
• Lead efforts for New Packaging Systems: Scoping, Estimating, Scheduling, Design development, Installation, On-Site commissioning, Performance testing, Documentation development and management
• Present proposals and information to both internal and external audiences
• Coach, delegate to, and mentor other engineers and designers
• Travel to other Foth offices or client locations (approximately 30% annual average)

Preferred Qualifications

• 15+ years with packaging systems design including, but not limited to, conveyor types and appropriate applications for various types of materials, ancillary packaging equipment (bulk glue delivery systems, balers, container and case coders, etc.)
• 5+ years of beverage industry experience, specifically including high-speed (1000 containers/minute or higher) container handling
• Working in a consulting environment
• Understanding of balanced line flow for packaging systems
• CAD software experience
• PE registration or ability to obtain
• Bilingual in Spanish (b1 proficiency)
• Previous Experience with the Following High Speed Packaging Equipment: Liquid or solid filling and closure systems
• Previous Experience with the Following High Speed Packaging Equipment: Labeling systems
• Previous Experience with the Following High Speed Packaging Equipment: Inspection and rejection systems (container, case/carton, label placement, etc.)
• Previous Experience with the Following High Speed Packaging Equipment: Case erecting and packing systems
• Previous Experience with the Following High Speed Packaging Equipment: Depalletizers, palletizers, and stretch wrapping
