Legal Counsel

Summary

Join Nansen, a blockchain analytics platform, as their in-house legal counsel. Based in Singapore (remote work), you will lead the legal function, shaping contracts and frameworks. You will provide legal support across multiple units, structuring and negotiating commercial agreements, advising on regulatory compliance, and maintaining corporate governance. The role requires a Singapore-qualified lawyer with 3-5 years of experience, ideally in a tech startup, with expertise in corporate and commercial matters, and familiarity with cryptocurrency and DeFi. Requirements

• Be a Singapore-qualified lawyer, with at least 3 to 5 years of legal experience in a law firm or in-house counsel role
• Be experienced in corporate and commercial matters, with excellent drafting and negotiation skills
• Be commercially astute, highly-driven and focused on achieving practical outcomes
• Be able to effectively communicate complex legal concepts to internal stakeholders
• Be well-organised and able to prioritise and deliver on multiple workstreams in a fast-paced, remote-first environment
• Have an AI-first mindset

Responsibilities

• Lead the legal function within Nansen, operating with a high degree of autonomy
• Shape the form and function of the contracts that govern our relationships with our customers and partners, and the frameworks that guide our people
• Provide legal support across multiple units with different business requirements
• Structure, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements with blockchain foundations and entities, outsourced service providers, and partners
• Understand the risks to the business and provide practical advice on areas such as regulations applicable to cryptocurrency and payment services activities, marketing and customer loyalty programmes, intellectual property, and data protection, engaging external counsel as needed
• Maintain Nansen’s rights and obligations relating to corporate governance through liaising with external corporate secretaries and shareholders where required
• Advise on a wide range of legal matters and ad hoc queries, including strategic mergers and acquisitions, investments, employment, and procurement

Preferred Qualifications

Have experience working with, or in, a growth-stage technology startup, and be familiar with cryptocurrency and DeFi concepts (e.g., staking, restaking, validators, nodes, and wallets)
