Summary

Join Axon and work as a contract in-house counsel focusing on civil litigation, including intellectual property and product liability. This role reports to the VP of Litigation and involves representing the company in legal proceedings, managing large document cases, developing discovery strategies, drafting motions, and providing legal advice. The ideal candidate will have a J.D. from an accredited institution, state bar admission, and at least 5 years of litigation experience. Intellectual property litigation experience and USPTO experience are preferred. Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills are essential. The position is based in Scottsdale, AZ, but remote work from the United States is possible.

Requirements

  • J.D. from an accredited institution with outstanding academic credentials
  • Admission to a State Bar within the United States
  • Minimum 5 years of demonstrated litigation, discovery, and trial experience with a desire to perform every aspect of litigation
  • Excellent writing, analytical, negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organization/prioritization skills
  • Advanced computer and technology skills, including Westlaw and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully work with a team and in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and multi-task

Responsibilities

  • Represent the Company as in-house counsel in Company involved claims, litigation, and administrative and regulatory proceedings
  • Engage in large document case management, including ESI and forensic discovery, privilege review and privilege log preparation
  • Develop, implement and execute proactive discovery strategies to obtain prompt claim resolution, respond to Company subpoenas, and take/defend depositions
  • Research, draft and argue motions and participate in all manner of trial preparation, including jury research
  • Acquire broad knowledge of the Company, its business and its products, and will provide advice on best practices and risk avoidance
  • Join Forces with our legal team to achieve Company objectives, maintain the highest ethical standards (Win Right!), and consistently produce top-notch work product

Preferred Qualifications

  • Intellectual property litigation experience
  • USPTO experience
  • Exposure to securities, antitrust, and class actions
  • I-Manage and Relativity
