Summary
Join Zus, a shared health data platform, and lead our AI Innovation team, leveraging the latest AI/ML tools to develop novel healthcare products. You will define our AI strategy, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and provide technical direction and mentorship. Responsibilities include leading a team, identifying high-impact opportunities, designing and training machine learning models, developing scalable infrastructure, collaborating with data engineers, staying current on AI advancements, and translating complex capabilities into user-friendly features. This role requires 5+ years of machine learning and AI experience, including 2+ years in a leadership role, along with expertise in MLOps, cloud infrastructure, NLP, and CI/CD. A BS or higher in a technical field is required. Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in machine learning and AI, with 2+ years in a technical leadership or people management role
- Proven experience developing novel features with advanced technologies and deploying them in real-world applications
- Strong understanding of MLOps tools, workflows, and production AI systems
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure (AWS/GCP/Azure), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of natural language processing (NLP), including embeddings, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and prompt engineering
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- BS or higher in a technical field; MS or PhD is a plus
Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a high-performing AI innovation team
- Partner with product managers, engineers, and healthcare providers to identify high-impact opportunities
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on AI-driven features to deliver real-world value
- Design, train, and fine-tune machine learning models, particularly LLMs, to support search, summarization, clinical reasoning, and other core use cases
- Lead the development of scalable and automated infrastructure for feature deployment, improvement, and monitoring
- Own end-to-end model lifecycle in a production environment
- Collaborate with data engineers to create robust, scalable data pipelines and ensure the quality, integrity, and accessibility of data for training and evaluation
- Stay on the cutting edge of AI, particularly in NLP and LLM research. Translate breakthroughs into practical, scalable solutions
- Act as a key technical leader across engineering, product, and design teams. Translate complex capabilities into user-first features
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated success delivering AI products in collaborative, cross-functional environments—healthcare experience is a plus
