Responsibilities
- Assist with development and offering of sustained, Justice, Equity Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) and Environmental Justice (EJ) education for staff, including for JEDI-focused onboarding
- Manage the creation systems to coordinate, track and evaluate employee JEDI participation and progress through performance management and strategic evaluation, learning and lesson sharing
- Work with the CJEO to provide JEDI integration guidance and counsel into campaigns, projects, partnership engagement, policy development and recommendations, consistent with organizational resources, UCS racial equity plan and UCS annual JEDI strategic plans
- Work with scientists and campaign staff to strengthen and expand equity, justice and anti-racist practices in UCS research and campaigns by staying abreast of JEDI research and best-practices in the field, and elevating EJ priorities, questions and interests to UCS leadership, programs, staff, board and NAB members
- Act as a thought partner to CJEO and thought leader to staff who are evaluating, establishing, broadening or deepening partnerships with EJ groups, BIPOC networks and institutions such as Historically Black College and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges, Congressional Black Caucus, Green Latinos, Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus, National Society of Black Engineers, etc
- Manage JEDI Office coordination, evaluation and participation of UCS leadership and staff in EJ fora and JEDI conferences both domestically and globally
- Work with the CJEO and People & Culture team to ensure UCSβs hiring, on-boarding, and management practices align with UCS JEDI goals and building the inclusive, culture the centers the dignity and humanity of all colleagues internally and externally
- Assist with the building and management of JEDI consultant relationships and maintain JEDI consultant and resource referral bank (consisting of education and facilitation support services for career advancement, literature references, equitable businesses engagement etc.)
- Support the CJEO to be a trusted support resource able to uplift and help resolve JEDI-related issues of concern by providing and recommending resources for healthy conflict resolution and an inclusive workplace; under the direction of the CJEO/People & Culture department apply concepts of restorative justice to conflict management where appropriate
- Help to facilitate JEDI-related educational and professional growth offerings
- Liaise with, support and, coordinate UCS ERGs, team JEDI leaders and their ongoing activities a primary contact for the JEDI Office
- Work with CJEO and individual UCS leadership to identify JEDI priorities, gaps and opportunities and develop concrete plans to initiate, deepen and expand environmental equity and justice work
- Manage JEDI Office project plans, details and deadlines in coordination with the Special Assistant to the CJEO, ensuring timely response and completion of tasks
- Support the CJEO, the Executive Team and the Board JEDI Advisory Committee
- OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Preferred Qualifications
- Masterβs degree (longer experience may be substituted for degree)
- Strong analytic skills with the ability to compile, research, and analyze information and then draw insights and influence data-driven decisions
- Bilingual/multi-lingual
